This case study presents a 16-year-old adolescent Asian female diagnosed with scoliosis in January 2024. Despite conventional bracing, the patient experienced a broad range of systemic symptoms and worsening spinal curvature. After commencing treatment with the HEAL Method™ under the care of Dr. Daniel Foo, the patient underwent nine non-invasive, holistic therapy sessions leading to substantial symptomatic relief and objective improvement in spinal alignment, as evidenced by follow-up radiographs.
Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is commonly managed with bracing and observation in mild to moderate cases. However, in some individuals, conventional management may not address accompanying systemic symptoms or prevent curvature progression. The HEAL Method™, developed by Dr. Daniel Foo, presents a novel, integrative approach to spinal health and mind-body healing.
Despite adherence to prescribed bracing, the patient reported progressive discomfort and multisystem symptoms.
Upon presentation in June 2024, the patient exhibited the following symptoms:
Worsening spinal curvature was noted despite consistent brace usage.
The patient began treatment with Dr. Daniel Foo on 11 June 2024, following a referral by a family member. Treatment consisted of nine sessions utilizing the HEAL Method™, a holistic, non-invasive system combining manual therapy, somatic education, and integrated craniosacral and fascial release approaches designed by Dr. Foo.
This method emphasizes:
Following nine sessions across a structured treatment period, the patient reported significant subjective and functional improvements, including:
Spinal X-rays taken during the course of treatment showed measurable improvement in curvature and alignment as of 8 August 2025 (see figures attached).
This case underscores the potential for a whole-person, non-invasive therapeutic model in managing AIS and its associated symptoms. While bracing remains a conventional cornerstone, some patients may benefit from complementary approaches that consider systemic effects and somato-emotional factors.
The HEAL Method™ appears to contribute positively to neuro-musculoskeletal and visceral integration, potentially influencing postural control and autonomic balance.
The HEAL Method™ provided effective support in this case of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis with systemic symptoms. Further research is warranted to evaluate the broader applicability of such integrative methods in scoliosis care and other neuro-musculoskeletal conditions.
